Recreating the transport of yesteryear…

Eric Berry 1943 – 2023

It is with great sadness that we report the passing of Eric Berry, one of the founder members of the Fylde Transport Trust. Born in St. Helens in 1943, Eric developed a lifelong interest in buses and trams but particularly the fleets of LUT, St. Helens, Ribble and Blackpool. This was reflected in the projects he became involved with and led to the creation of the Lancastrian Transport Group in 1982.
Eric oversaw the growth of the collection throughout the next 40 years and the organisation becoming a registered charity back in 2000.
Despite years of rude health, Eric was admitted to hospital in March 2022 and his condition slowly deteriorated until he passed away in his sleep early on 12th August 2023.
The FTT is indebted to Eric for his work over such a long period of time, and he will be greatly missed.

Our Trams

Our tram collection is housed at Rigby Road depot courtesy of Blackpool Transport Services. As each tram is restored it will be placed on loan to BTS so that they will be able to use it as part of their Heritage Trams Tours.  Details of their activities can be found at blackpoolheritage.com

Coronavirus

The Coronavirus pandemic is having a severe effect on the lives of everyone and we hope that you are keeping safe and well.

Our Buses

Our bus collection has become highly focused on the preservation of vehicles from the Fylde coast, embracing the fleets of the former Blackpool Corporation, Fylde Borough Transport, Lytham St. Annes Transport and Ribble Motor Services.

Supporting Us

We have never more needed your support than now. During 2020 we were unable to hold many of our usual fundraising events and at the start of 2021 we are still unable to plan for when these may restart.

Please see how you can support our work even though you can’t acutally come to see us.

The Fylde Transport Trust is the guardian of a unique collection of buses and trams spanning over 80 years of public transport history.

Our origin are rooted in the Lancastrian Transport Group, established back in 1983. The expanding collection was converted into a Trust in 1996 and then in 2000 the Lancastrian Transport Trust became a Registered Charity. To better reflect the focus of the organisation, the charity was renamed the Fylde Transport Trust in February 2018. In January 2020, the FyldeTT merged with the Blackpool Heritage Trust to consolidate the heritage assets on the Fylde coast into a single charitible organisation.

Our objectives are to preserve a representative collection of vehicles to portray the development of public transport on the Fylde coast and showcase these in a visitor attraction.

As well as preservation we attend local events where we operate shuttle services. We also attend charity and community activities.
